We customise this trip based on the time available and whether the passengers want a one-way journey or a round-trip. Many people ask if it can be done in one day, to which the answer is "if you don't want to see anything other than the road, yes!" We recommend a minimum of 3 days (2 nights). |

| Typically we would spend the first day making our way from Cape Town to the town of Oudtshoorn via tunnels, scenic valleys and mountain passes; and the towns of Worcester, Montagu, Barrydale and Calitzdorp. We overnight in Oudtshoorn. The second day would be spent visiting the Cango Caves, possibly taking in one of the renowned ostrich show farms or a hot-air balloon ride. We head for the coast via the Outeniqua Mountain Pass to George, home of the Railway Museum and the start of the steam railway line to Knysna. Either bus or train through the lake area of Wilderness and Sedgefield to Knysna, which we use as our base for the next day/s. There is a chance for a cruise to the Knysna Heads, or visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Plettenberg Bay awaits, with possible detours to "get touched by an elephant" or visit a monkey sanctuary. Other attractions along the way include Nature's Valley and the Tsitsikamma National Park including Storm's River. Port Elizabeth awaits for those who need to catch connecting flights or have hotel reservations. Alternatively, we start the return part of the journey back to Cape Town via the coast to Mossel Bay and inland to Riversdal and Swellendam. |
